Batteries and hydrogen constitute two of the most promising solutions for decarbonising international shipping. This paper presents comparison between a battery proton-exchange membrane fuel cell version high-speed catamaran ferry with main focus on safety. The systems required each are properly sized fitted according to applicable rules, their impact overall design is discussed.
